I’m a research assistant pursuing a doctorate at the LAMP group at EPFL. I started working on Scala in 2005.

My current goal for my doctoral work is to extend Scala with meta-programming (scripting) capabilities to allow frameworks to define framework-specific static transformations (optimisations) such as:

• Lifting of for-comprehensions on database tables to SQL queries.
• Lifting of for-comprehensions on XML data to XQuery queries.
• A client-server framework that transforms calls to use a middle-ware.
• And hopefully much more.

• The ScalaDBC relational database access library (beta).
• Various Scala Ant tasks (Scalac, Sbaz, ScalaTool).
• SABBUS, the automatic build system for Scala 2.
